Ios was never just the backdrop for Danielle and Wyatt’s wedding. For a few days in May, it became their playground! Thirty-three people flew halfway around the world to Ios for their wedding and what followed was less a single wedding day and more a full-on Greek island takeover.

Island Adventure & Greek Glamour: A Destination Wedding in Ios

The wedding became an adventure in its own right, with a line-up of experiences well worth the journey. Think beach days, late-night club adventures, a welcome dinner by the sea, sunset celebrations and, eventually, a silent disco that kept the party going until 3am.

Danielle & Wyatt’s love story

Danielle and Wyatt’s story began during their senior year at Boise State University, when a little confidence and a walk over to their local college bar sparked a connection that would grow into nine years of friendship, adventure and building a life together. When Wyatt proposed at Kerry Park in Seattle, one of their favourite neighbourhood spots, he had secretly arranged for their closest friends and family to be there, followed by a surprise engagement shoot and brunch. It was the perfect beginning to what would become an epic destination wedding adventure in Ios.

Finding Their Greek Island

Danielle started searching for her destination wedding venue almost immediately after getting engaged, and Wedinspire quickly became one of her go-to sources for inspiration. “The week after I got engaged I started searching destination wedding venues and Wedinspire was a top site that I kept finding amazing venues on.”

From there, the search took her across Greece, Tulum, France and Ibiza, with 13 venues eventually making the shortlist. Ios Club quickly emerged as the clear favourite. The brief was simple: beautiful views, a unique location and somewhere that could keep the party going. With its sea and sunset views, seven-hour venue hire and music permitted until 1am, it ticked every box while placing the celebration in the perfect setting.

The guest experience was just as important. Travelling from the Pacific Northwest was already quite the journey, so Danielle wanted the logistics once everyone arrived to feel as straightforward as possible. Ios offered the perfect balance of spectacular scenery and manageable island adventure. “The location, the price, the responsiveness, and everything just aligned perfectly.”

The Destination Wedding Weekend!

The couple never wanted their guests to travel halfway around the world for just one day of celebrations, so they turned the wedding into a full-blown island getaway! Two days before the wedding, everyone met on Mylopotas Beach before heading into Chora for a night out, with tables reserved at several of the island’s clubs. The following evening, they gathered again for a welcome dinner at a private beachside restaurant, complete with an open bar, dinner and a DJ. By the time wedding morning arrived, the group had already spent several days soaking up the sunshine, sea air and unmistakable energy of Ios.

An intimate Ios Club Wedding

Then came the main event. With 33 guests, the atmosphere at Ios Club was intimate but never lacking in energy. Danielle and Wyatt exchanged private vows over Freddo Cappuccinos that morning before getting ready to celebrate with their favourite people, a tear-jerking moment. The ceremony and reception made the most of the venue’s spectacular position, with the Aegean stretching out beyond them and the island creating a dramatic natural backdrop.

Danielle describes the entire day as feeling like a dream, but perhaps the best part was being able to actually enjoy it. “Instead of worrying about logistics, we got to focus on each other and soak in every moment.” That was thanks in no small part to the Ios Club team, including day-of coordinator Natasha, who handled everything from the setup and timings to a very windy veil and candles that refused to cooperate. When the wind picked up, she simply swapped the candles for faux versions, keeping the look Danielle had planned without allowing the weather to derail the day.

And Then They Partied…

The wedding certainly didn’t end when dinner did. Danielle and Wyatt had always wanted their celebration to feel like one huge party, and Ios Club gave them the perfect starting point. With the clubs of Chora just a short walk away, around 70% of their guests carried on the celebrations after leaving the venue, heading into town for a night out.

And the grand finale? A silent disco at Shush Silent Disco Club, where the couple, friends and family danced until 3am. “It felt like the universe’s way of giving us the perfect ending to the best day of our lives.” Honestly, we can’t think of a better ending.

Why Ios Club Was The One

What makes Danielle and Wyatt’s story even more remarkable is that they had never visited Ios before booking their wedding. In fact, they had never even been to Greece. It might sound like a bold leap, but the venue’s imagery, communication and online presence gave them the confidence to go for it. When they finally arrived, the reality lived up to everything they had imagined, and then some. “It felt just as I had imagined it (if not better).”

They were equally impressed by the Ios Club team, the food and the level of support throughout the planning process. Without hiring a wedding planner, Danielle felt completely looked after, with the team helping with suppliers, accommodation, transport, welcome party ideas and even recommendations for the all-important post-wedding nightlife. For a destination wedding being planned from the other side of the world, that local knowledge made all the difference.

A Wedding That Was Really A Holiday

Perhaps the best thing about Danielle and Wyatt’s wedding is that it never felt like their guests had simply flown somewhere for a wedding. Instead, Ios became the setting for an entire adventure, with beach days, late nights in Chora, dinner beside the sea and time together at Dionysos Seaside Resort on Mylopotas Beach. They explored the island, soaked up the sunshine and made the most of having everyone they loved in one place, before eventually dancing their way through the wedding celebrations until 3am.

Travelling at the end of May also meant the island was still relatively quiet, giving their group a rare sense of having Ios almost entirely to themselves. For Danielle, that was exactly what made the journey worthwhile. “If we were asking people to travel half way around the world for our wedding we wanted to have more than one day of fun together.” It is a pretty compelling destination wedding philosophy.

Planning Your Own Destination Wedding

For couples planning their own celebration abroad, Danielle’s advice is refreshingly honest. Be intentional with your guest list, book your venue early and, once you have made your decisions, stop looking at wedding content. After all, when you are planning a wedding from thousands of miles away, there will always be another venue, colour palette or tablescape waiting to make you question everything you have already chosen. Her biggest piece of advice? “Once booked, trust the process with them.”

For Danielle and Wyatt, that trust resulted in something far bigger than a single wedding day. Ios became the backdrop to a week of adventures, long lunches, late nights, beach days and one spectacular celebration shared with the people they most wanted beside them. And perhaps that is exactly what a destination wedding should be: one incredible place, your favourite people and far more than one day to celebrate.
