Soooo, is this the world’s most Instagrammable cake or what!? Can’t go wrong with bougainvillea + Grecian vibes, that’s for sure. As show-stopping as the bright pops of color in this editorial Anna Roussos captured at Ios Club in Greece is, the
MBW Events team were actually all about channeling that fresh, minimal, and spontaneous elopement style straight out of Greek folk art. Prepare to get inspired by your new fave muse, Cakies...
Our bride’s beachy two-piece gown is by Greek designer Mairi Mparola.
Boho goddess, much?
From the love story of Psyche (Soul) and Cupid to post-modern fairytales, muses and brides bask in the Aegean sun in anytime, anywhere sultry silk gowns paired with unexpected hits of decadent shine. No better destination than Ios with its easy bohemian flair to showcase this concept and inspire our shoot. We sought a place that evokes memories and senses with sizable dramatic views but still keeping things fresh and minimal.
Indigo and bougainvillea are always an inspired choice, don’t you agree?
These handcrafted bohemian lanterns by Yiapa Studio were made from vintage lace table linens.
We drew ample inspiration from Greek folk art and borrowed elements to fuse with our setup: traditional mortars and pestles (employed for the décor in lieu of votive candle holders and wedding cake base), the famed golden coins named “flouria” (a luxe staple of folk bridal wear), as well as the iconic fuchsia and red bougainvillea blooms thriving across the island.
Thanks to Anna Roussos and the talents listed below for inspiring us today…
